MY SYDNEY RIOT INTERVIEW /// SPIRIT VALLEY

SPIRIT VALLEY BW

If one particular two-piece band in Sydney was ‘REGULATING’ right now, then that band would definitely be SPIRIT VALLEY. These guys have been playing around the traps over the last few years, but it seems like in the last 6 months they have really taken this town by the throat (Sydney at best can be a voiceless child standing there looking at the concrete without a voice) so that is sayingalot!Like all cats who like to be in the know we keep survey on what peoplearesayin on the streets and one question that comesupalot is “do you know Spirit Valley?” So if people are asking questions like this then one must get their investigating sunglasses on and go to the source and ask the questions… and that’s exactly what we did.We met in the dark of night at a Petrol Station near Wollongong and so we proceeded to ask the boys a few questions. We kinda went deep, not too deep, but deep enough to get an insight into how Spirit Valley ticks.SPIRIT VALLEY mean the business and it’s fuckin about time some serious Sydney rock n’ roll appeared on the horizon.

Here’s what they had to say…Enjoy!

MY ZOMBIE RIOT INTERVIEW /// THE OWLS

MY ZOMBIE RIOT THE OWLS WEB

Before this weekends show we got in touch with Josh Bailey, front man of MY ZOMBIE RIOT headliners THE OWLS to give us a few words about their recent tour and to talk about all things Horror and their hometown of Newcastle. Hope you can make it down to see these guys, we honestly hands down believe THE OWLS could be the next Newcastle biggest thing since SILVERCHAIR.  Just sayin! You heard it here first! INTERVIEW /// ANGIE FROM ‘THE DARK HAWKS’

IMG_3298

You probably don’t know Angie Anderson right now, but if all goes to plan you sure as hell will know her in the not too distant future. We’re going to go out on a limb and say that we pretty much think Angie’s voice is one of those rare moments in Rock n’ Roll, it’s like when a pin drops and silences a room, well that is Angie to us. One of the strongest purest rock n’ roll voices we have come across in Sydney and even in Australia (and we have come across many many amazing voices). She’s the front woman and voice of Sydney’s very own THE DARK HAWKS, together this three-piece band are doing some great things with their music, touring relentlessly and trying to make as much noise off their own steam as they can and they seem to be winning. They blew our minds around a year ago and we look forward to what’s to come in 2014.

Anyway enough ranting from us, we caught up briefly with Angie, this is what she had to say. Continue reading “INTERVIEW /// ANGIE FROM ‘THE DARK HAWKS’”

INTERVIEW – HEATHER VOUSDEN

We know Heather from around town. Heather is a lovely, warm, kind and gentle human being, so naturally we were very excited to find out about her art exhibition ALTERED ENERGIES which is happening this week, details below.

Heather gets out to alot of shows and she takes some pretty amazing photos of bands strutting their stuff out there on the local scene.

We knew she had a busy schedule this week getting ready for the show, but we just wanted to ask her a few little questions and she was kind enough to give us some very deep and thoughtful answers. And knowing that this is her first ever interview makes this little article very dear and special to us here at MSR HQ. Thanks Heather.

This is what she had to say.

INTERVIEW – BEC FROM BEC AND BEN

There are a lot of women out there already rocking the mic on the scene right now, but we here at MSR HQ believe that Bec has what it takes to take the front woman status in Sydney band to the next level. Alongside her partner in crime, Ben (of Bec and Ben) well who knows what’s on the horizon? world fame? murder? a bank robbery? only time will tell.
