I spent the holidays feeling depressed about the Lock out Laws and the current state of NSW. Anyway I started humming this tune and I kinda ended up expressing my feelings the best way I know how, thru song (and Garageband).
I’m not gonna say too much about our current nightmare, because I know we’ve all been keeping up with all the articles. I just want people to know that what is happening to us is only an introduction to what is coming. We’re feeling the pinch with these abhorrent lock out laws, but then there’s the treatment of refugees, the poor, the old, gay and lesbians, the marginalised and even our indigenous people. Our freedoms are being challenged by our Government both State and National and things are only going to get worst, not better, worst! We’ve got a few killer projects coming up this year, but to warm up for a much bigger project we are working on we are putting the call out to artists to submit all kinds of random stuff for Issue no.3 of what has been a pretty low-key unknown e-zine that we’ve put together from time to time; STD aka SHAKE THE DOG.
So if you’re feeling inspired then hop right to it and send thru the following… art, photography (all kinds), mp3’s (for a STD mixtape… weird random shit; demos are more than welcome), sketches, photos of your dog, photos of you as a kid, lyrics, poetry, short stories, interviews, basically anything really, try us, send us other people’s rad work too haha! well… ummmm…. Anyways test our creative brains with your perspective on art and shit!
*Remember all files must be of the digital nature, so we won’t be accepting physical canvasses or sculptures (well right now anyways) haha! and don’t forget to credit yourself or whomever the work is by.
Email all files to firstname.lastname@example.org or if the files are of the big nature then please use Dropbox or Hightail etc and send us the link and we’ll do the downloading ourselves…
Limited spaces so be quick.

Things have been heating up in the media regarding the state of the live music scene in Sydney and the Governments proposed 1.30am blanket lock outs in the cities CBD (at the writing of this post these laws were passed swiftly over night without any public consultation). The Wentworth Courier approached a punter; Darlinghurst resident; Sean Roche, a venue owner; Oxford Art Factory’s Mark Gerber and a musician; Frontman of Sydney band Fait Accompli; Ray Lalotoa. This is what they all had to say on the matter.
Wenworth Courier is delivered free to most households every Wednesday in the Eastern Suburb areas of Sydney. Also available from your local Newsagent.

In a world full of time wasters and people who don’t take responsibility for their own shit, the passing of Australian dance music legend AJAX leaves us all totally dumbfounded.
AJAX has come a long way from the nights when he’d hop on the decks at Middle Bar Kinselas during lock in drinks while his friends heckled him from the bar. Unfortunately his life came to an end in an accident involving a truck in Melbourne last night.
He worked hard, was a lovely human being and was a true pioneer. Winning dj of the year awards many times over, he also played a big part in bringing Australian electronic music culture out of the underground to a wider audience along side his sidekicks BANG GANG at their legendary parties at Club 77 and around Sydney which took place deep into the last decade.
AJAX was a busy individual and was always on the go, but he always had time for people. There was always someone ranting in his ear, poor guy. Even I was in his ear about remixing a track. Typical egotistical band people being drunk hassling dj’s about remixes. Haha!
If there is a God out there, then he certainly has a warped way of showing his love, but if we are all just stars in an endless galaxy of energy then Ajax’s star shone brighter than most in 10 lifetimes.
News feeds are littered with heartfelt tributes today on this sad rainy day, like it should be for the passing of a legend.
Rest in Peace Adrian Thomas aka AJAX and love to your family and close friends.

News has come about the release of PUSSY RIOT member, Yekaterina Samutsevich. The other two members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova face two years hard labour in a Russian prison colony. It’s a bitter-sweet day for Pussy Riot and their supporters worldwide, but we’ll keep on supporting and spreading the word about the FREE PUSSY RIOT movement.
FREE PUSSY RIOT!
Release of Yekaterina Samutsevich prompts conspiracy theories as colleagues led away to complete two-year sentences

For seven months, the world got to know Pussy Riot as three women defiantly smirking inside a glass cage as they issued a rare challenge toVladimir Putin and the justice system that serves him. On Wednesday, the trio was separated when a Moscow court set free Yekaterina Samutsevich, the oldest and quietest of the Pussy Riot three, while ordering her two bandmates to serve the rest of their two-year sentences in a Russian prison colony.
The two women who remain in jail, Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, smiled through light tears after hugging Samutsevich goodbye. They then placed their hands through an opening in the court’s glass cage, waiting for guards to cuff their wrists and lead them away.
