The underground independent music scene is currently going through an amazing transformation of late, kinda like a snake shedding its skin and exposing some new flesh, it’s exciting but also scary if not treated with respect.
Over the past few weeks we’ve been sifting through the heap of rad bands that are circulating in our stratosphere of late and due to our need to expose the truly gifted and unknown we’ve come up with the first instalment of LIVE AT THE RIOT, a night of fresh artists that we think people in Sydney need to discover and experience in a decent live setting and we think THE STANDARD is the perfect venue for the occasion.

One of our most favourite Sydney bands are 5-some CHICKS WHO LOVE GUNS. The last time we saw them play we were all feelin pretty seedy. Anyway in our state of drunkenness we looked up to the stage and figured out that if Kurt Cobain had five boys then these guys would be them.
End of story, just go and see them tonight at The Standard because they are a fully hectic sick band. And you need to eat pizza from Olympic Yeeros on Oxford st after the show and talk about aliens with randoms later.
Shit and the support bands are totally awesome too, The Ottomans (QLD), Sweet Teeth & Doc Holliday Takes The Shotgun.

This Thursday GOONS OF DOOM return to the stage for a four-week residency at BUCKLERS CANTEEN, Bondi with good friends THE RUMINATERS. All shows will include special guests, this week THE DRUNKEN SAILORS and resident DJ RED CARPET playin sweet classics. The fish taco’s are numero uno. This will be a party you will never forget x 4. On the same night in town BANG! BANG! ROCK N’ ROLL will be opening for ANDREW WK & ALEISTER X at THE STANDARD, Surry Hills. Onstage early so make sure you get to this hot show for a rocking good time. Keep an eye out for their new EP which is set to drop very soon! Tix from moshtix. Doors 8pm.
On Saturday MYLEE GRACE & THE MILKSHAKES will serenade the OXFORD ART FACTORY Gallery Bar, Darlinghurst with their good time party tunes. Opening for Brisbane band THE OTCHKIES and DRIFFS, this gig will be special. Free entry from 8pm.

If you have attended a GOONS OF DOOM show, you have probably experienced either of the following; a massive hangover, a bump to the head or the biggest smile from ear to ear.
The Rattlesnake Cobra is the most fun party song you will hear on all fours, it is also the first single off their third album ‘Revenge of the Goons’ which drops later this year locally and internationally thru Volcom Entertainment.

FAIT ACCOMPLI RECORD NEW MUSIC / HEADLINE THE STANDARD THIS SATURDAY
Since the new year Sydney’s FAIT ACCOMPLI have been in the studio recording new music at Mr Milk in Annandale. Over three days they smashed through three brand new tracks and a live version of an old skool live favourite. Stay tuned for a release to take place sometime soon.
But to start off the year they have been invited to headline a cool gig by party makers 199 & CRIES WOLF this Saturday. The lineup is awesome with supports coming from LET ME DOWN JUNGLE MAN and CORPUS, 199 & CRIES WOLF DJ’S will be providin the party tunes and PING PONG!
Sounds like a good time will be had by all at one of our new favourite Sydney venues THE STANDARD just up from The Courthouse in Surry Hills. It will set you back $5. See you there.
