We invited some of our favourite Sydney bands THE JONES RIVAL,CHICKS WHO LOVE GUNS, FAIT ACCOMPLI, FIRESAINT, STICKY FINGERS, THE CHITTICKS, THE RUMINATERS, BANG! BANG! ROCK N’ ROLL to pop around for a little Q & A.
We were originally going to make the videos really short, but all the bands had some really interesting answers and that in itself was kinda refreshing.
This is the first part to a series of videos we are putting together to help push a new live music night RIOT RADIO which we are launching at THE BACKROOM in Sydney on THURSDAY 11 APRIL.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the first instalment of our monthly party at the awesome GREAT NORTHERN HOTEL in Byron Bay.
So continuing on with what we do best we present you with the April lineup of MY BYRON BAY RIOT. The amazing THE RUMINATERS will be heading north with Gold Coast buddies PIRATES ALIVE, they will be joined by new local heroes WAXHEADS and another awesome Sydney band BIG WHITE.

One of our favourite Sydney bands of all time is THE RUMINATERS. Anyway when we first started our RESIDENTS night they came along and hung out for a whole month with GOONS OF DOOM. Some good times were had and then they went away, visited some amazing places like USA, Venus and Mars and now they’re back!
They’re back with a brand new single called ONE GIRL AND A KNIFE. It’s a kick ass track and the video is pretty sweet too, hand-made and filmed on an iphone.
Anyway the boys return this Thursday to CANTEEN to play a one-off show and we hope you will all make an effort to get down there this Thursday. Pretty sure it’s going to be packed to the eye balls, so get there early and get yourself a good spot.
They will be joined by another Sydney band who are kickin some sweet ass right now – THE JONES RIVAL.

THE RUMINATERS are definitely the band to watch in 2013! The last time we saw these guys live, the future just flashed in front of our collective eye sockets. Visions of these guys moving to New York and skateboarding down Broadway with THE STROKES was one of many. WTF!?
THE RUMINATERS possess a maturity in song writing which is uncommon for bands that are starting out. We were fans of these guys from the start, but their live show has really taken a big turn, they have just become more brutally tight, louder but still fun and wholesome. Also the nailing of the breakdowns and quiet moments is really an amazing trick and any band that can nail this is pretty much deserving of what comes next.
With a debut album in the pipelines, who knows what might be next for this layed back four piece from the Northern Beaches of Sydney? A well organised tour and some sweet supports with some bigger bands will definitely help things along. Bookers?
Their songwriting is hooky and the melodies are memorable and have a dark pop to it, but without losing the punk rock appeal to what they do. Hopefully the new material will continue the shaping of what they have already done. The songs Timmy and Dead Things have been great introductions to the band.
The sky is the limit for THE RUMINATERS! Fuckin nice guys too. True story.

This Thursday GOONS OF DOOM return to the stage for a four-week residency at BUCKLERS CANTEEN, Bondi with good friends THE RUMINATERS. All shows will include special guests, this week THE DRUNKEN SAILORS and resident DJ RED CARPET playin sweet classics. The fish taco’s are numero uno. This will be a party you will never forget x 4. Our March Band of The Month BANG! BANG! ROCK N’ ROLL are opening for Mississippi 2 piece BASS DRUM OF DEATH this Saturday 7th April. Pretty amazing. They also have another ace up their rock n’ sleeve, but you’ll just have to keep tuning in. More good times are ahead for this awesome Sydney three-piece.
Also on the bill are another favourite at MSR HQ, THE RUMINATERS. It’s a free show, so hop to it. Should be a pretty rad night at FBi Social of course!
