This Thursday GOONS OF DOOM return to the stage for a four-week residency at BUCKLERS CANTEEN, Bondi with good friends THE RUMINATERS. All shows will include special guests, this week THE DRUNKEN SAILORS and resident DJ RED CARPET playin sweet classics. The fish taco’s are numero uno. This will be a party you will never forget x 4. GOONS OF DOOM – THE BEST BAND TO COME OUT OF OZ SINCE AC DC – DANNY CLAYTON (CHANNEL V)
Danny Clayton has been a VJ at Channel V (a cable tv music channel) for almost 10 years now and he has probably seen more live bands than most of us. Danny attends all major music festivals Nationally and Internationally interviewing some of the biggest bands in the world to local sensations. There are two positives about Danny’s twitter which went out to his almost 10,000 followers from The Standard in Sydney last weekend. Firstly it’s a great leg up for Goons of Doom a band who get close to zero airplay on Australian radio besides having fans from all over the world. And secondly it’s cool because finally someone within the music industry is acknowledging what most of us out here already know.
Goons of Doom in the last couple of years alone have toured Europe, Hawaii and the USA three times including SXSW, opening for bands like Hole, El Mariachi, Damien Marley and Dillinger Escape Plan, they have also caused near riots at most of their shows at countless venues up and down the Australian East Coast. More recently they were handpicked to open for American band Grouplove.
Members within the Goons are visual/graphic artists, famous surfers, art directors, music producers, published writers, talented multi instrumentalists and each member is an accomplished songwriter in their own right. The Goons were also mixing visual art with surf rock way before the surf sound became the new wave in recent times, releasing their third studio album later this year thru Volcom Ent, the music arm of International surf/skate label Volcom.
So if a band can have all of these creative qualities and major touring experience yet still remain literally unknown to most music lovers in Australia, then the following questions need to be asked “Where is the music industry?” “Where have they been?” “What the fuck is going on over there?” and “Are they going to do something about it?”

BONDI RIOT NOT CRONULLA RIOT!
So many people came out to the Beach Rd Hotel last Saturday night to celebrate the Australia Day Weekend and locally made music it was not funny. You really had to be there to experience what went down, but from start to finish the bands that played all came out with guns blazing and the night was hands down one of the coolest parties we’ve put on to date.
The over capacity / sold out Beach Rd Hotel got down to the LIAR Awards 2011 Best new comers Bang! Bang! Rock n’ Roll and the awesome Valley Floor (qld) who both played tight sets, receiving mass appreciation from the early birds, followed by Mylee Grace & the Milkshakes who bought everyone together for a dance off du jour and so did Gerrringongs The Bungalows who played their best live set to date, starting the first of many sing-a-longs of the night. Betty Airs ruled the stage and their cover of Bad Moon Rising is second to none (record dat shit boys!). Sticky Fingers had all hearts in a flutter as they spread the soulful good vibes around the room. Then it was time for the Goons of Doom, well no one in this town knows how to rock a party like the Goons do, the party was well and truly on fire. With Killerwhale playing his return show with the Goons the gig was made all the more special, a night we will never forget.
Beautiful women, cool cats, punks and newbians gathered together and we all simply partied for the love of friendship, good times and music. Yes there were a couple of boofheads in the crowd pushing people around, so we apologize if anyone got hurt, but overall from all reports everyone had a ball.
Downstairs after the show looking around at all the sweaty and happy people it was like we had all survived some kind of war, a fight for the very survival of what we believe in – Our Music. And I think we’re winning. Holy Fuck!
Thanks for coming out to support these bands, they are worth all their weight in gold. Big thanks to the bands (go check them out!) and thanks to Meg (best door biatch), Sarah for the tunes! Jimmy for takin care of sound and The Beach Road, especially bar manager and the cool staff. And thanks to Bert Newton. Copland!

he Australia Day holiday is a special one and even though there are many perspectives surrounding what it means to different sections of the community, we’d like to invite all tribes to come together this weekend to celebrate the current state of underground music culture. And going off the list below, its pretty safe to say that the bands coming out of this town are pretty epic and amazing.

BYRON BAY GOES TO WAR – GOONS OF DOOM START A RIOT!
If you were in Byron Bay last week you would’ve noticed that Sydney’s GOONS OF DOOM actually played three shows locally. The laziest tour on earth? No, the boys just know how to take advantage of the good times. No sin in that!
There was somethin in the water that week and kids came from all over the shop to see the boys rock out with friends GROUPLOVE (US) at the Great Northern (Wed), then at a Volcom instore for the kids! Hi Mum! (Thurs/daytime) and then at Woodys (Fri) with good friends THE BUNGALOWS, BOOZE HAG plus SAMOAN PUNKS and boy what a good time it was.
The night before the Goons and the Bungas took in a different scene where The Loft, Chevron Island was overfilled by 100 more than the legal limit and the kids were at war with their own shadows, a pretty crazy trick to witness, but man that show was out of control. We all seriously thought the venue was going to collapse on itself, thank the Gods we didn’t make our 6pm news debut with 77 dead. “THE LOFT WAS THE CRAZIEST GOONS SHOW EVER!”.
Surviving Chevron Island, Friday night was gonna be mad fun. Local promoters EAT CITY NIGHTS joined forces with MSR to put on quite the party. Everyone had a ball, the bands went right off and the night was all time rock n’ roll good times. People were partyin like it was 1999 and PRINCE was the President of Byron Bay. Well is he? If he’s not, then he should be!
Byron Bay people know how to party and it was a great way to kick off 2012 with a hells yeah, so much so that the RIOT is comin baaaack very soooooon!!!! A new date and venue will be announced shortly. So stay tuned.

A lot has happened since Northern Beaches five piece Goons of Doom last played at the Mona Vale Hotel. Last year alone they opened for Nas, Damien Marley and The Bronx at the revered SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, played sold out shows in LA and New York City and completed their third studio album Revenge of the Goons (to be released in March). This Saturday night (21st) the Goons return to their home town roots bringing their unique brand of high energy, good time, rock and roll filth that’s guaranteed to get kids swinging off the ceiling. Other local acts performing on the night include Lime Cordiale, Mylee Grace and the Milkshakes, Seek the Silence, Four Litre Friday, and Hopes Abandoned. It’s a Rattlesnake Cobra Party. It was the eve before the eve of Christmas where a massive night was had by all on Thursday 22nd December, the good times were rollin and the free vodka’s were tasty sweet. The lucky few that rocked up early saluted Russia as we all got dizzy and ready to breathe in the punk scenery which was about to take place at our favourite drink spot, The Flinders.
BETTY AIRS, THE BUNGALOWS and SAMOAN PUNKS all ripped through thunderous party sets which had everyone dancing up a storm like it was a back yard shindig with only your best friends in attendance. And by the time GOONS OF DOOM hit the stage the place was packed like a tin of sardines, but filled with sexual happy people having too much of a good time.
BANG! BANG! ROCK N’ ROLL played some really cool party tunes between sets while everyone boogied into the night. All the people in attendance had the best time, smiles from ear to ear, dancing, pogoing and gettin into the spirit of Christmas, it was just the usual MY SYDNEY RIOT good times rock n’ roll party.
The night ended with a hippy drum off where five skinny dudes were smashing away at a floor tom and chanting random sounds. It was quite the sight to behold, so was the hangover. Bleh!

SAMOAN PUNKS is a New York / Buddy Holly / Ritchie Valens / blind love inspired pop soul punk – music project by Samoan, Sydney based music maker Mr Ray Lalotoa (Fait Accompli/Goons of Doom).
Following a three-week tour of the USA with Goons of Doom in August 2011, a week spent in New York lay the foundations where spontaneous ideas were thought of then recorded pretty much on the spot. After a week of messing with his lap top using a guitar, mic and drums, Ray had himself an album.

The last time the Goons of Doom were in New York, this is what happened over four days…The Goons drank at a gay bar, had dinner at a restaurant called Kingswood, went out drinking, danced with transvestite’s, partied hard, caught cabs, walked, hugged, played pool, danced to jukebox music, chewed gum, partied hard, kissed girls, played pool, hung out at Max Fish, hung out at Max Fish, danced on tables, sang songs inside vans, sang songs insides cabs, ate bagels, drank beer and played a gig to 5,000 skaters in an underground bunker. They also planned to go to the Empire State Building, the Moma, the Statue of Liberty and have a picnic in Central Park, but couldn’t make it because they ran out of time. Anyway, you get the picture.
But here’s the NEWS FLASH!!!!! The Goons have survived an Earthquake, a Hurricane and a town called Richmond! Tell your daughters The Goons are back in NEW YORK CITY this Friday!!!!

Oz was also part of a pretty sick art show which included local legend artist Ben Brough and the very talented Kid Creature (aged 11).

SAVE THE KILLERWHALE – TONIGHT!!
Life is crazy, one minute you’re screaming down the highway at 100 clicks, the next you are swimming in the vast oceans without a care in the world, life is just amazing. Then one day further down the track you get told you are sick. This is what happened to one of my dearest friends Killerwhale Tim (Goons of Doom), he recently got told that he had cancer, a rare one and the prognosis is good. All he has to do is have an operation to get it removed, so we are all hoping and praying (yes I said that word) for a miracle.
Luckily for us, we are surrounded by amazing friends with alot of creative ideas, so we decided to come together to put on a gig to help raise money for our homie Killerwhale. We have been overwhelmed by the love and support that we have received in return, not only from friends, family and fans alike, but especially all the supporters who have selflessly given us so much. At last count I think the prizes for the raffles and auction have surely hit around the $30,000 mark. Fuck all this war and shit, human beings have the capacity to be so amazing.
This event is going to be a special gathering of like-minded people who not only care about Killer, but they care for the cause that is life. So I am looking forward to getting down to the Beach Rd and soaking up this night with each and every one of those people.
What’s important about life is not the people you know, the have or the have-nots, the famous or the not so famous, what is important is what we can do for our fellow brother man, to me that is what being human is about, making the connection with the people who need us and being a part of that circle of life, which in return will give you good vibes to carry on with what you do from day-to-day.
Killer means the world to me and everyone who knows him, he is like a little brother and also someone who doesn’t have a boring bone in his body. So you can imagine what it’s like being in a tour can with him. He is also a loving husband, has a dog named Fizzy, is a talented singer, songwriter and has recently written some of the most special songs these ears have heard in a while. The new Goons record will definitely be proof of that. So as you can imagine, we (all his close friends) are coming together because Killer is that guy in our lives and we sure as hell don’t want that to change.
So on behalf of everyone who has gotten behind this cause for our beloved brother Tim, I just wanna say – Thank You.

With the recent disasters happening in Japan, Queensland and Christchurch, we realise how lucky we are to be alive. My Sydney Riot and The Annandale Hotel joined forces to put on a gig to help raise some money for our brothers and sisters who are going through hard times. Joining the Party are Goons of Doom, The Bungalows, Royal Chant, The Go Roll Your Bones, Mylee Grace, Lime Cordiale, The Crying Skies, Dusty Duets and Dead Gang. We’re also having a Special Art Exhibition of rare works donated by some of Sydney’s most talented artists which will be sold to help the cause. So come down early on Anzac/Easter Saturday 23rd April and help us party while raising some much-needed funds for The Red Cross!! Yew! Kicks off from 6pm. Donations from $5.

Gods very own band GOONS OF DOOM are playing at The Flinders tonight. So you should really make the effort to get down there and check the boys out. With a third record on its way GOONS OF DOOM are planning to head overseas to record this baby. There’s a whole lot of new songs and adventures about loving girls, kissing girls, having sex with girls, more girls and leaving jail looking for girls.
If you like guys then I guess you’ll just have to imagine having man sex when Vaughan Dead is screaming love songs at you from the stage. Just close your eyes.
